The funny thing about the current Warlock meta is that it doesn't feel like a slow burn anymore. It snaps into place. A lot of players came into the Lord of Hatred cycle expecting Paladin to own the ladder, but once you've spent a few hours pushing harder tiers, the Shadow Dance setup starts making a very loud argument for itself. If you're still filling out key slots or trying to buy D4 uniques for faster testing, this is the kind of build where the right piece can change the whole rhythm of your run.

Why Hexing feels so strong right now

Hexing isn't just a prep button here. It's the part that makes the pack fall apart before Dread Claws even starts doing the ugly work. You tag enemies, soften their defenses, and set up the crit engine in one go. Then Dread Claws takes over with fast Abyss hits, and because it lands so often, it keeps fishing for the procs that matter. You'll notice it most in dense rooms. One marked enemy gets hit, an explosion rolls through the group, and suddenly the screen is thinner than it was two seconds ago.

The Sigil changes your gearing choices

Sigil of Subversion is the reason this build gets away with being greedy. The crit chance from Hex stacks is huge, and that means you don't have to waste every jewelry roll chasing crit. That's a big deal. Most builds are still begging for stable crit before they can invest in damage, but Shadow Dance gets to skip part of that pain. Once the Sigil is online, you can start looking harder at Shadow Damage, damage over time, crit damage, and anything that keeps Shadowform stacks moving. It feels less like patching holes and more like sharpening the knife.

The actual playstyle is quick and a bit reckless

The loop is simple, though it does reward clean timing. Nether Step into the edge of the pack, let Profane Sentinel start spreading Hex, plant Sigil of Subversion, then rip into them with Dread Claws. Don't stand there admiring the setup, either. Keep moving, keep dragging enemies into your marked zone, and let the phantoms do their job once Shadowform hits five stacks. When it clicks, it has that caster-assassin feel. You're not sitting in the back tossing spells. You're diving in, breaking the room, and leaving before the dangerous stuff catches up.

Where to spend your attention next

Once crit chance is handled, the build's ceiling comes from better multiplier stacking and cleaner uptime. Shadow Damage Over Time is worth chasing, but don't ignore Wrath sustain or cooldown comfort if your runs feel clunky. A dead Warlock does no damage, and a resource-starved one feels awful. Players who like testing gear quickly may use marketplaces such as u4gm for game currency or item services, but the real gains still come from knowing which stats your setup no longer needs. Drop excess crit chance, build harder into Shadow scaling, and the whole Shadow Dance package starts to feel nasty in the best way.
